My favourite daytime make-up look is fairly simple, doesn’t use a ton of products, takes less than 10 minutes to apply and lasts well all day. I recently picked up a few new beauty products and rediscovered some old favourites, which I’ve incorporated into my winter make-up and hair routine.
I have a love/ hate relationship with eyeshadow palettes, as I only ever seem to use a few of the shades, while the rest go untouched. This Tarte Tarteist Pro to go Amazonian Clay Palette which I picked up in Melbourne recently is the opposite. All the shades are neutral warm tones (my favourite!), and I’ve already used all of them for day or night looks. I’m by no means a make-up expert, so really like how a simple wash of one of these colours on the eyes can create a statement look, rather than feeling the need to use three or four shadows to create an elaborate look.
My hair is in desperate need of a trim, so I’ve been running a drop of Essano Argan Oil Hair Recovery Serum through the ends after washing to help smooth and nourish. A little bit goes a long way and it leaves hair soft and with a subtle gloss, but doesn’t look or feel oily.
A longtime favourite, this translucent and lightweight MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder is constantly in my handbag or on my desk at work. It comes in a range of shades (I currently wear NC35), does a good job of keeping skin matte and doesn’t cake when you reapply over the course of a day.
Th MAC powder pairs well with Mecca Max Life Proof Cream Concealer, which I use under my eyes after applying a tinted moisturiser. The concealer’s creamy formula blends easily into the skin with a small make-up brush and does a great job at hiding under eye dark circles from too much late nights watching The Crown.
Another old favourite which I rediscovered this month is Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Rose. It’s hydrating, affordable and delivers a subtle wash of glossy pinky red colour.
