After a summer spent outside in the sun, it’s important to ensure you’re giving your skin the hydration, pampering and protection it needs as we head into the cooler months. Chillier temperatures, wind and indoor heating can all leave your skin not looking its best. Below are a few of my favourite skincare products that I’ve been using this season to help keep my skin hydrated and glowing.
I recently added this Skin by ecostore Brightening Exfoliator to my skincare routine and have been impressed by how smooth and soft it leaves my skin. The all natural exfoliator includes a blend of New Zealand glacial clay, pineapple and jojoba beads, which gently slow off dry and flaky skin. It’s suitable for all skin types, gentle enough to be used a few times a week and purse friendly.
After hearing rave reviews of this Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner from beauty loving friends, I recently picked it up from my local Mecca. Any product that promises to help me achieve radiant and glowing skin is sure to catch my attention, and this toner really does deliver. I use it every second or third night after cleansing my face – applying a few drops on a cotton pad and then gently wiping outwards towards the edges of my face. It tingles slightly when applied (that’s the glycolic acid and grapefruit working away) and gently exfoliates the skin, while removing any remaining make-up. A great cheap skincare addition, but don’t overuse this product if you have sensitive skin as it can be drying.
I’ve been using this affordable Mario Badescu Hyaluronic Eye Cream for about five months now and love how hydrated it leaves the skin around my eyes. The creamy formula contains hyaluronic acid and aloe vera, which help hydrate and plump up the skin, as well as diminish any fine lines. I use this morning and night – a small amount goes a long way. My only complaint is that I wish you could buy a larger size than this 14g tub.
I’ve used a few Olay products over the years, including this amazing luminous serum, and have always been impressed by the results they give, which really proves that good skincare doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Olay Regenerist Revitalising Hydration Cream is a light-weight facial moisturiser that I use morning and night after I’ve cleansed, applied a serum and eye cream. This moisturiser absorbs easily into the skin and leaves it hydrated and glowing (but not oily looking). It also includes a handy SPF15 for daytime sun protection.
Another ecostore product which I’ve been using this season is the Skin by ecostore Hydrating Mask, which is packed with New Zealand seaweed and blackcurrant oil. The cooler temperature and wind factor at this time of the year always leave the skin on my cheeks and forehead dry and tight feeling. I like the creamy texture of this mask and how it leaves my skin feeling nourished, soft and smooth after use. Suitable for all skin types, I’ve been using this twice a week.
